At The Edge of Time is definitely 2 steps up from their previous release, A Twist In The Myth. I started to get worried about their ability to produce a solid album after their last album, thinking that they have been going at this for almost 25 years, their time has come to an end...But this album was well worth the 4 year wait to see. At The Edge of Time encompasses all the elements that makes Blind Guardian legends; Speed Metal, Symphonics, and most importantly insanely EPIC choruses. This album was their first attempt at using a full orchestra backing them up, which sounds phenomenal. Not many bands can pull off an accompanying orchestra but Blind Guardian can, and they do it damn well. It just fits their style where themes about Tolkein, Myths, and Legends are in their songs.
Just when I thought albums like A Night At The Opera, Somewhere In Time, and Nightfall In Middle Earth could not be matched, Blind Guardian out does themselves with this one, stepping up the bar and delivering an album that blew my expectations out of the water.
Excellent album!
