Cowboys From...High School?

These kids ranging from ages 12 to 16 are a part of a music instruction class run by Aaron O'Keefe in Ohio. O'Keefe has quite a bit of love for Phil Anselmo for his students are only instructed to play music he is a part of, specifically songs from Pantera and Down.

Despite the high pitched pre-pubescent vocals, these kids nail it! Holy shit I am impressed and fucking jealous... Thanks for making me feel like an incompetent piece of shit on the bass at 24 years old...

Black Skys Call For Black Metal

Today I woke up, and looked outside and it was dark, foggy, drizzling, and alittle chilly. Here in Southern California, we dont get these days too often and its a damn shame because I would trade this weather for the sun, any day of the week. Driving to work, I started planning what music would best accompany this day, much like how food enthusiasts will match a good wine to a particular meal. What type of music would best accompany a wet, dark, foggy, and rainy day? Black Metal.

Which type? Well, I tend to lean more towards depressive/suicidal or atmospheric/shoegazey black metal where the lyrical content is based around sorrow, despair, longing, trees, nature and suicide as opposed to black metal where the lyrical content is basically anti-christian and satanic. But not always.

So this post is a bit random and out of the norm for the regular scheme of things, but I just wanted to share some music that I think is very fitting for days like today.
